It is regarded as a pioneer and role model of classic car fairs worldwide: The Techno-Classica, which this year is already taking place at the end of March, will again attract an impressive number of fans and professionals from over 30 nations to Essen. Since its first opening in 1989, Techno-Classica Essen has developed in an impressive manner. Today it is considered the most important trade show for classic and prestige cars, motor sports and motorcycles. In addition, there are important topics such as spare parts, accessories, restoration and other services related to historic vehicles.
The organiser is currently expecting more than 1,250 dealers and exhibitors who will bring more than 2,700 top-class cars to Essen. More than 300 companies cover a wide range of additional
offers for all aspects of automobiles, supported by over 220 clubs and communities of interest. They ensure that Techno-Classica Essen has the status of a world club meeting place since a long time: Those who are able to convince the audience is a player in the premier league. There is another incentive for the clubs: Also in 2020 the Club Grand Prix will be awarded for the most attractive presentation of a club or community of interest. The award is not only financially very interesting for the voluntary organisations, but also guarantees the winners a lot of attention from an international audience and the media.

The car manufacturers also appreciate Techno-Classica Essen as a big stage. They use this forum to celebrate anniversaries and to present exquisite individual pieces or special subject exhibitions. Many renowned names will be represented with impressive factory stands. In addition, several special shows form exquisite highlights of this automobile festival of superlatives: In Hall 6 – the Grand Palais de l'Automobile and the heart of the show – they will again cover impressive topics of automobile history in 2020.

No other trade show offers such a variety: from the top-class collector’s car for a million dollars to the likeable classic with everyday qualities, from the brass antique of the early 1900s to the super sports car of more recent eras, every enthusiast will find a rich selection here. Techno-Classica Essen has been regarded as a mirror of the scene for three decades. This is where trends are set and tracked down, this is where the international trade press measures the pulse of the industry and analyses its condition in detail. At the start of the season, Techno-Classica Essen stimulates the international classic car industry, offers prestigious eye catchers in all price ranges but also entices with a large number of attractive offers: traditionally, around one third of the vehicles on offer fall into the affordable plug an play category. This refers to young classic automobiles that allow immediate and carefree driving pleasure in a car representing a cultural asset.

With no less than two auctions of international standing, Techno-Classica Essen will again this year provide exciting events at the highest level. Already for the 13th time, the traditional English auctioneer Coys in Essen will sell an extensive selection of desirable collector’s cars. RM Sotheby’s, now the world’s largest auction house for collector’s cars, also offers exquisite vehicles which will fall under the hammer. These renowned names attract an audience from all over the world to the Techno-Classica in Essen at the end of March.

Other highlights of the world show include the Concours d'Élégance, where international juries of experts and trade journalists select the most beautiful, elegant and attractive classic automobiles. The title Best of Show is considered very coveted. In addition, a large number of service providers, suppliers, car literature suppliers, spare parts dealers, model car dealers, accessory sellers, watch and technology dealers, artists, gallery owners and publishers will once again offer special deals and insight into their qualitatively and quantitatively unrivalled ranges in twelve halls and on three open-air exhibition areas.
Techno-Classica Essen attaches particular importance to young talent. Therefore, children and teenagers benefit from reduced admission fees, the youngest fans (up to 8 years) even get free admission when accompanied by their parents. For families there is also a discounted family card, which is valid for up to three children.
