Rare 356 B 1600 Roadster
Chassis 89175, originally sold to the USA in June 1961
Upgraded with 90 HP engine, non-matching, but correct series
Original colour scheme black with red letherette
Solid example in good, useable condition with slight patina. Sold by myself 12 years ago.
This rare 356 B Roadster spent most of its life in Nashville, Tennessee in the hands of its lady owner, a Joanne Fleming Hayes, daughter of the former chairman of the local Vanderbilt University.
During all its researched history back to the early 80ies, the car has always been light yellow with a black leather interior, so the colour change must have taken place in its early years.
In 2010 the Porsche was sold by Gullwing Motors into a Norwegian collection of very unusual and rare cars. The new owner who bought it was a very experienced collector and picked this Porsche because of its unmolested body and excellent panel fit.
In 2012, I bought it from Norway together with a Maserati Vignale Spyder and a first series Alfa 1900 C from the same collection.
The condition of the car was such that I sold it to a close friend who has since been enjoying it for the last 13 years. Since the family is growing, it is now time for a change...
