2025 BMW M4 CS VR46 Edition | The Summer Serenade Auction | 18th July

Created to celebrate the 46th birthday of nine-time Motorcycle World Champion Valentino Rossi following his move to BMW M works competition, the BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 ranks amongst the most exclusive and desirable modern BMW M cars. Production was strictly limited to just 92 examples worldwide, split equally between two distinctive specifications, with only 46 Marina Bay Blue 'Sport' cars, such as the example seen here today, and 46 Frozen Tanzanite Blue 'Style' cars produced. The UK is understood to have received an allocation of just four right-hand drive examples, two of each specification, making this an exceptionally rare opportunity.

Beyond its exclusivity, the VR46 Edition features a host of bespoke details unavailable on the standard M4 CS. Powered by BMW M's exhilarating 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged S58 straight-six producing 550bhp, it combines carbon fibre bodywork, lightweight forged alloy wheels, yellow-accented styling inspired by Rossi's famous racing colours, extensive VR46 branding and a uniquely trimmed interior featuring Merino leather, Alcantara and embroidered Edition badging. The result is a highly focused driver's car with genuine collector appeal from the moment it left the factory.

Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of ownership was BMW's invitation to an exclusive two-day experience with Valentino Rossi himself at the legendary VR46 Motor Ranch in Tavullia, Italy. Reserved exclusively for VR46 Edition owners, the programme included a private visit to Rossi's famous ranch, where guests met 'The Doctor' in person and enjoyed an unforgettable behind-the-scenes experience celebrating one of motorsport's greatest icons. Purchased new by our vendor, this exceptional Marina Bay Blue example was driven all the way to Italy to participate in the event. Fittingly, the car reached the 1,200-mile running-in interval en-route and received its first service at BMW Imola before continuing to Tavullia. During the visit, our vendor was personally presented by Valentino Rossi with a signed VR46 helmet together with a pair of Rossi's gloves, both of which accompany the car and provide a unique connection to this remarkable experience.

Having covered just 4,400 miles from new, the car remains in outstanding condition and has formed part of the impressive Continental Performance Collection, a carefully curated collection of significant BMW’s and other European performance cars. Combining extreme rarity, exceptional performance and a provenance unlike almost any other modern production car, the M4 CS VR46 Edition is destined to become one of the most sought-after limited-edition BMW M models of its generation.
