This Lotus Cortina was acquired by the current owner on 11th June 2015 from a garage proprietor who, to the owner's knowledge, had invested considerable time and expense in restoring the car to an exceptionally high standard. Since acquisition, the vehicle has been carefully maintained, stored in a garage at all times, and used only very sparingly. It has never been driven in wet weather during the current ownership. Accompanying the vehicle is the original High Performance Cortina Lotus owner's handbook, together with a Ford service record book believed to relate to the car. The service book records maintenance carried out by Byatts of Fenton Ltd, Stoke-on-Trent, including:
Documentation supplied by the previous owner also includes a selection of historic MoT test certificates. These record a mileage of 89,663 miles on 31st October 1989 and 91,517 miles in March 2004, indicating that the car covered just 1,854 miles over a 15-year period.
During the current ownership, the vehicle has required no significant expenditure, with the only notable work being the replacement of the headlights with modern fittings. The car is supplied with two sets of keys. The previous owner advised that the restoration was completed in accordance with the original factory specification. Evidence of the car's high standard is provided by its feature in Performance Ford magazine (October 1992, Volume 6), where it appeared across pages 58–61. A copy of the magazine will accompany the vehicle, together with the owner's handbook, Ford service record book, and a file of receipts relating to previous maintenance and restoration work. A well-presented and carefully preserved example, offered with a desirable history file and period documentation. Consigned by James Good
