The- BMW K1200 RS is a sport-touring motorcycle that combines high-speed performance with long-distance comfort, making it a standout model in BMW's K-series line-up. Powered by a liquid-cooled 1,171cc inline-four engine, it produces approximately 130 horsepower, delivering smooth, predictable acceleration and effortless cruising at motorway speeds. Its fuel-injected engine is renowned for reliability and durability, making it a popular choice for riders who enjoy covering long distances. One of the defining features of the K1200 RS is its unique longitudinal engine layout, which helps lower the bike's centre of gravity while providing exceptional stability. The five-speed gearbox and shaft-drive system minimise maintenance compared to chain-driven motorcycles, adding to its appeal as a practical touring machine. BMW also equipped the bike with its Telelever front suspension and Paralever rear suspension, reducing brake dive and improving handling over uneven road surfaces. Comfort was a key priority in the K1200 RS's design. The adjustable handlebars, supportive seat, and aerodynamic fairing provide excellent wind protection, allowing riders to travel for hours with minimal fatigue. Although weighing over 280 kilograms fully fuelled, the motorcycle feels remarkably balanced once underway and inspires confidence on both winding roads and open highways. The K1200 RS also offered advanced features for its era, including optional ABS braking, heated grips, and luggage systems that enhanced its touring capabilities.
Originally registered on 6th August 1998 this low mileage BMW presents very well. This one owner motorcycle has been regularly serviced, although it has gone through periods of its life when it has been laid up. However, a full MoT history does confirm the low mileage. Recent recommissioning work has been carried out, including overhauling the front and rear brakes. This also included a new brake cylinder and hydraulic lines. Supplied with a V5 registration document, together with an MoT test certificate, valid until 19th June 2027, indeed the MoT tester commented on how well this BMW was running. In immaculate condition, this K1200 RS is ready to ride and enjoy the summer months ahead. Consigned by Stewart Banks.
