A $300 Bet-Batmobile based on...?

Reacting to our earlier post about Dirk Regter meeting Jay Leno we received a friendly letter form Tom Segerson: "I had the opportunity to meet Jay Leno over 20 years ago when I was in LA. At the time he was just starting his TV show and still took time to talk to me about my car, while he was taping the show! A real car nut and true supporter of all things automotive. 
Find attached photos of the car I drove to LA. I built the car on a bet with a friend. He didn't think that I could build a 'batmobile'. I called the car Pontasaurus Rex. Which is a hint as to the make of the car. Jay Leno thought it was 'interesting' and was surprised that I built it for about $300 USD (1980's $)." Well Tom, congratulations on your home cooked Budget Bet Batmobile! Is the car still around? We wonder which exact type of Pontosaurus you used to start off. But probably our readers will tell us more quick then we can look it up ourselves....
