A BMW like no other BMW

by our Rooky Reporter:
With its 100th anniversary this year, BMW was of course THE attraction of last week’s Interclassics Maastricht. So we went to look for the most striking BMWs. Somewhere between all the postwar sports cars on sale, I noticed a BMW I had never seen before, or even heard about. The large trophy on its roof already proved that this was one not to overlook, and when I saw it last Friday it had already been sold. This rare 1967 BMW Glas 3000 V8 Fastback was coach-built by Pietro Frua. What makes this car even more special... it's a one-off.

Without doubt this classic Bayerische Motoren Werke deserves the spotlight today, because it is the most most striking BMW I have seen, with a touch of fierce Italian aggressiveness. This BMW could compete for styling with the Maserati Ghibli as well as the Iso Grifo. And it is a reasonably affordable super car, priced in the range between €400.000 and €500.000. The German GT has a 2,982 cc DOHC V-8 engine with triple Solex downdraft carburettors.
Some two hundred BMWs later we found arguably the most unique BMW in existence, or at least the shortest one. The front of an 1800 or 2000 model, acting as a waiter who offers you drinks. Note the BMW panel on the table… what would happen if you pull one of those handles?
