No more well drilling for this Delahaye.

We all know Delahaye for its extravagant bodied automobiles. Lesser known is that in the early fifties Delahaye also made the VLR, their version of the ‘Jeep’ to be used by the French army. Unfortunately it was rejected in favour of the license built Hotchkiss Jeeps. One such VLR found its way to Holland where it was enlarged with an extra axle and a crane fitted to use for water well drilling. Richard Eijkemans discovered the abandoned VLR in a barn. It took him five years to restore it. The crane and extra wheel were discarded as with this set-up it could never become street-legal. The end result is a beauty. Well done, Richard.
