A Micro Barnfind

This one is a real "barn find"; the two cars are parked  in a farmhouse and completly covered by mud and dust. The car on the right is easily identifiable: a Fiat 600. But what is in the middle? In the words of the owner of the property, " a ridiculous worthless minicar, impossible to save or restore". It may be clear that he has no idea of what is hidding in his shed,  but this mysterious microcar is a PTV 250, produced during the 1950s in Barcelona.

Despite its minimal dimensions, these cars had an aluminium-head single cylinder engine which allowed a top speed of 75 km/h. But the most interesting of the PTVs was the elegant design, very 1950s style, that included two tone paint and whitewalls. Around 1.200 were produced but very few have survived, which makes them  highly sought by the microcar collectors. If you still have your doubts, check this link where you can see a restored one which was sold for 46.000$ in last year´s Bruce Weiner Museum auction. Now the question is, what to say to the owner of the farm?
