On August 22, 1962 a murder attempt was made on president Charles de Gaulle, France's most remarkable leader since....Napoleon. De Gaulle survived the machinegun attack thanks to the brilliant suspension of the DS and very brave chauffeur who drove of the car with over 80 km/h with two empty front tires.  Now what you see here is a bullet hole in the right C-post of the DS. But we have to inform you it is a replica bullet hole and the whole presidential car in this set-up is nothing more but also nothing less than a recreation of the original DS19. It is one of the very interesting cars from a Frenchman collecting presidential limousines. Auction by Artcurial at Retromobile, Paris, February 4.
