A mouse in boxes

On World Animal Day we obviously do not think of animals, but of cars with animal names. We've already seen quite a few, but our personal favorite is Topolino, Italian for Little Mouse. This of course refers also to the creation of Dante Giacosa. Back in the seventies we owned such a Fiat Topolino, a 1950 Type C, which wasn't in too good a condition, to put it mildly. Once we were stopped by a copper, who looked at the little Fiat and said kindly: "I'd had better not look too closely at its technical condition." And quite right he was. The Topolino was ripe for restoration, a project which we started in the 1980s, but never finished. The Little Mouse was sold in 1989 and as far as we know the Topolino is still around, although lying around in boxes.
