During the 1950s Portugal lived a real "racing fever" with events every weekend all over the country. Also many workshops created their own designed machines, usually by using engines from Fiat, Simca, Renault, Panhard or British marques such as MG. There were even some interesting vehicles with own designed engines, as the beautiful ALBA cars. As a result, the starting lines of the 1 liter category were an interesting gathering of bizarre machines, most of them very originally designed. Above you can see a fine action picture from one of these 1950s Portuguese races, with an unidentified car as main character. At a first glance we may think of a Simca 8 cabriolet by Facel, and really there are many resemblances. However, the front shape is different to any Simca 8 Facel which we have been able to find. So, is this car really a modified Simca? Or a Portuguese creation inspired by the little French car? Let us know...
