Dave Godwin from Australia sure likes to use his MGA. Coming hot on the heels of the successful MG China to MG Britain trip along the Silk Road in 2010, he is now in the planning stage of another long-distance trip from the MG dealer in Cape Town, South Africa to Abingdon in the UK, the birth town of MG. This broad plan is start in Cape Town in mid-August 2012 and take approximately 14 weeks to drive through Eastern Africa to Cairo in Egypt, take a left and head for Morocco (political situation permitting), then on through Spain and France to Abingdon - around 24.000km. Sounds a long way -it is- but will be a load of fun and adventure, guaranteed! The intention is to keep to sealed roads wherever possible, to make this a comfortable and scenic trip for up to 8 MGs from all corners of the world; talking to locals, eating their food and sleeping in their hotels. There’s still room for two participants, preferably in an MGA. If you’re interested, contact us.
BTW, the RIP on Dave’s license plate stands for ‘Retire in Peace’ or perhaps ‘Racing in Paradise’ although we think it should read NRIP: ‘Never Rest in Peace’!
