Only some 25 years between yesterday's Sheerline and today's Princess. But what a difference! If we have to typify 1970s styling, it must be the wedge-shape seen above in the form of British Leyland's Princess. Too bad it's poor reputation was such that it attracted hardly any buyers. Yet we think the Princess has a very pleasant looking design and, having driven one in the seventies, we can vouch for its speed and comfort. But when have you seen one lately? Ages ago, wasn't it? You'll get a chance to spot one at the Classic Motor Show in Birmingham, which will be held in November. On show will be a pre-production Princess, number 15 dating from June 1974. It will certainly bring back many memories, good ones and, yes, also bad ones.
