A Sunday in the wild

by Francisco Carríon: This past weekend saw one of these typical British classic car summer events. As usual lots of cars, motorcycles, busses, lorries, trains, steamers, and tractors were shown at the green green grass of home. It was the annual "Festival of Historic Transport" hosted by the Scotthish Vintage Bus Museum of Lathalmond. For visitors the fun started even before entering the venue since the museum is in the middle of a forest and the organisation chartered old double decker buses of the '40s and '50s from the nearest villages.  The show was really enjoyable with curious traffic jams like the one in the main photo, with a Bentley MK VI "woodie" with a tiger on the roof, a 19th Century Cart-Bus, and a lovely 1/2 scale bus which was always full of kids. One of the most important issues of this kind of events is that all the family can enjoy together without the typical bored faces of the female companions. The band performances, the take-away food shops installed in old vans. or the possibility of taking a ride around the place in something old makes them to forget the "boring" concours or the autojumble or basically everything in the event that's keeping busy the more mechanically-interested visitors.
