All my Friends drive Porsches

Probably Janis Joplin's best known hit song is: "Mercedes-Benz" in which the text goes like: "Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz. My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends". But it's not true! Janis also drove a Porsche. During the late sixties she owned a 356, painted in the psychedelic colors of "The Summer of Love". Janis recorded "Mercedes-Benz" on October 1st, just a couple of days before she died at the age of twenty-seven. Tomorrow, January 19, would have been her seventieth birthday.
