We’ll forgive you when you forgot, but this week marked the racing debut of Ferrari back in 1947. And that made us think again of Anna Maria Peduzzi, seen above. She is a bit of a mystery as there are hardly any good records of her motoring past and it’s even unknown when she died (or if she ever did!). The Italian female racing driver was the first woman to compete for Scuderia Ferrari.
Nicknamed ‘La Marocchina’ – the Moroccan girl, for her dark appearance, Peduzzi owned a 500 Testa Rossa and a Zagato bodied Fiat 8V. She competed in over 50 races, apart from Ferrari also with Alfa Romeo, Stanguellini, OSCA and FIAT. She drove the Targa Florio and Mille Miglia. That seems like a whole lot of information, but it appears that, apart from Anna Maria herself, all of the cars except the 8V have disappeared either. That surely must be a misapprehension?
