Another Peter Seller´s Mini?

This early Austin Mini Cooper was recently discovered after many years of slumber. She has many special features. Most obvious are the "caning" of the side panels. It may remind you of the famous Minis of the well known british filmmaker Peter Sellers, who in the 1960s ordered at least two Cooper cars to be modified by Hooper Coachbuilders. These cars have appeared in various movies. The car in the main picture isn´t one of these original cars, but it was built in the 1960s. And although it doesn't have a film history, it is no less interesting! The car was imported to Spain as an original Cooper, painted in red, and was shown at the official stand of the Spanish Austin importer at the 1964 Barcelona Salon. After that, a wealthy noble person, fan of the Peter Sellers films, bought the car and sent it to Paris, where Roger Taka-Hira created this hand-made "fake cannard". At the return to Spain, the car was re-upholstered in white leather and received a luxurious wooden dashboard... and the result was so convincing that the best friend of the owner -another wealthy noble-  ordered another exact car. Of these two cars only this one is known to survive. It is in original unrestored condition, with only 50.000 km in its odometer after many years in an obscure garage. A great find for the Mini community.
