Beautiful Amsterdam

Without giving away too much of the itinerary of The 100 Miles (click) we want to show you a few of the highlights which the die-hards will not be seeing because their eyelids are frozen solid. The pre-automobile area Hollandsche Manege is of course a remarkable building in the centre of Amsterdam. The inevitable canals have to be part of the scenery, starting from the “Greenwich Village” of Amsterdam “de Jordaan” with the statue of the legendary folk singer Jonny Jordaan (click). We will be passing the small allies between the main canals to have a stop at the Amsterdam Watch Company . Over the Singel to the Munt Tower, part of the long gone medieval gate on the city walls and rebuild in the 19th century. From there the rally passes the Royal Palace on the Dam and the letters “I Amsterdam” at the Beurs van Berlage. From there on it is the main road up to the freezing polders north of the city.

The photo shows a 1960 Auto Bianchi Due Posti parked in front of one of Amsterdam's other highlights!
