Bob's four-decade TR3 love affair

When Bob Le Brocq replaced his first car, a second-hand Morris Minor, back in 1971, he chose a sporty 1956 Triumph TR3. Not an unusual choice in the days when old sports cars could be picked up easily for little money. Although he loved the car instantly, he couldn't have predicted that he would still be driving it more than 40 years later.
Although he sold the car in 1979, it was barely used by the new owner, who offered it back to Bob in 2010. He couldn't resist a reunion with his old Triumph, and has spent the last three years rebuilding the car back to excellent condition. Although things have moved on rather a lot in the intervening decades, Bob is just as passionate about his Triumph as he was when he first saw it all those years ago.
You can read the full story of Bob's tumultuous ownership and restoration of the car in the November issue of The Automobile, which is out now.
