Bonnet babes and a C-type mystery

Next weekend, the Bonneville Salt Flats will once more house the SpeedWeek – the motoring event that’s held on the Utah Salt Flats since 1912. Just about every kind of vehicle has been tried and tested in this bizarre landscape and just about anything goes to get the best out of it.

However, a Jaguar C-type seems pretty unexpected here, but these girls definitely appear to sit on one. What’s more: there appears to be no provenance of a ‘C’ driving at the flats. Could it be this one? That well-known white car was a Carrera Panamericana contender in ’53; was later offered for sale for $3500 (now painted metallic blue) and survives back in its white splendour. Who knows?
