Gee, we could do with a little bit of sun after all those freezing temperatures of the last weeks. And this feeling is only enhanced when looking at RM Sotheby’s list of cars they will bring over to Amelia Island this weekend. If you didn’t feel for springtime, you will after looking at that lot list! (click here if you, too, could do with some sunny spells on your computer screen) Oh, and we do know that Amelia Island is not located in California, thank you.
Everyone will adore that gorgeous Cobra (another one!) of ‘Cobra in the Barn-fame but there are more, perhaps even sunnier vehicles that just shout Beach Boys all over themselves. How about this 1947 Chrysler Town and Country sedan? Or, of course, a VW T1 Transporter with all those little roof windows (that’s a Samba isn’t it?) and in super-sunny shades? And if that’s Large, this will be Little: an equally lovely coloured Inter three-wheeler of the same era. Both would make perfect PostWarClassic promotional vehicles...
Perhaps the non-plus-ultra in VW Beetles will suit you and the missus better: a ’56 Karmann convertible with all the period accessories. Or – from the other side of the Beetle-spectrum: what could well be the cleanest of all the VW Buggies we’ve seen in the past decade: a ’65 Meyers Manxter. Last but certainly not least we’d like to make you aware of the 1948 Healey Westland, believed to have been used by Donald Healey when in the USA himself. Let the sun shine!
