Over here on our side of the globe, most (European) people have now come back from their holidays. Schools have begun and congestions will slowly rise on motorways with people going back to their daily commutes. We can only hope you have good memories to the summer holidays of 2017 and hope you enjoyed driving your car to new destinations without too much hick-ups and a speedy if not enjoyable homecoming, too.
That does remind us of this rather mysterious photograph from our files. It seems to us that the driver is about to undertake a speed record for towing a caravan. We do remember this particular (and peculiar) record being taken on by Robin Hamilton in his Le Mans Aston Martin ‘RHAM/1’ at Elvington Park in 1980 (having seen 152 mph on the speedo). Oh, we also found this clipping from ‘The Caravan’ magazine with caravan-man John Riseborough in a Jensen C-V8 with a Musketeer behind. But how about the photograph car (supposedly a McLaren?) seen above. Any more information would be much appreciated. And while you are racking your brain, we’d also like to ad to that: caption it!
