Does Chrysler give us wrong info?

There’s something wrong with this picture! It comes from the Chrysler Export Division who tell us that it was taken at the start of the 1954 Francorchamps Grand Pix in Belgium. So far, so good, but then they go on telling us that it shows the winning Chrysler New Yorker De Luxe Stock car, driven by the celebrated Belgian journalist and race car driver Paul Frère, who took the lead and set a single lap record of 93.176 miles (150 kilometers) per hour. Yet it looks more like a parade lap as we don’t think Paul Frère would race while wearing black tie! Can you tell us what really happened that day?
