Dreaming away at the lake

When you go on holiday it’s always nice to find a lovely spot at a lake where you can relax and maybe have a picnic. And can you imagine a better car to reach that destination than this trusty Gaz 24, or Volga as they were known outside Russia? The sturdy Volga was introduced in 1968, but production didn’t start until 1970 and they remained in production until 1992, although in an updated version. Nowadays we don’t see them too often. The last one (although an earlier model 21) we spotted was a few years ago at the ‘Nationaal Oldtimer Festival’ at the Zandvoort racing circuit. Maybe it will be there again this Sunday when this year’s Festival will be held.
