Dutch museum sells out

It’s not the first time in recent years that a Dutch motoring museum closes its doors but it’s happening now again. And so hundreds of classics are being auctioned off later this month when Epic Auctions opens the doors of the Oostvoorne museum for the last time from 14 to 16 november, with the actual sale taking place the next two days. There are many pre-wars in the collection, as there are over a hundred motorcycles, mopeds and scooters plus a wide selection of trucks and lorries including fire engines and military vehicles to even a MIG fighter! That still leaves plenty of post war cars, though. From Frogeye to Phantom, from Chaika to Cadillac and from Messerschmitt to Mercedes. The majority consists of cars that would have dominated the streets up until the 1980s, but there are some exceptions. Neo-classics such as a Clenet and Panther and this Caddy for example.

This Aero Minor estate (above, too) is one of our favourites, if only it was for the fact that the old Czech make is still wearing it’s old Dutch (provincial) registration number. That may well be an indication that it hasn’t been on the road since the early 1950s. Was the woody a factory conversion? All we could find was this page with a brochure and some old photographs, which happen to have been taken in The Netherlands in the early 1950s. Hang on, that picture was taken in Leeuwarden in the province of Frysland, and the 'B' on its provincial plate here is for that part of the country. It may even be the same car..?
