The make Alpine is back. It has reached the media quite a lot the last couple of years but in our opinion it doesn’t come close to the cars from the sixties. The name Alpine was chosen after its successes in the Coupe des Alpes
When Citroën, in October 1955, introduced their new model, the DS or Déesse (Goddess) at the Salon de Automobile in Paris it created a true sensation. Therefore, it was not surprising that coachbuilder Henri Chapron decided to have part in this success.
The appeal of the Austin Atlantic is something of an enigma – unless, of course, you were a car buyer around 1950, in which case its appeal was completely deniable because it was one of the motor industry’s most famous failures.
The lady's Porsche and its number plate may hint to its location, but we are not even sure about that. The hotel should be a good giveaway though. Do you recognize it..?
