We’ve just drawn a conclusion about cars and girls – it’s International Womens Day today and so we took a deep dive into the files to see what would fit in with the subject of strong and respected women. But of all the pictures we have in our photographic file tagged ‘Ladies’ there is not one – not a single one - which appears not to be posed. Check it out yourself and have a look at the pictures that we published on the last 250 Fridays or so. All of them have ladies draped over or next to cars in order to be pretty. And most are. Just as you like it.
Shocking? Of course not. Girls and cars have been together from the very start of car-dom to seduce men, and why not? But it may not be the grand idea behind Womens Day. So how about the exceptions? There are lady racing drivers and lady mechanics, sure, but we found another one. It’s ever young Elizabeth II herself in one of her majestic motors - an overall appreciated woman in a respected automobile like there aren’t many others. What’s more: the picture is unposed – and it’s rather good too. We have no idea when it was taken, but it’s lovely to see that even the best car in the world can break down, and it can even happen to a Queen. Oh - don't you worry - she can deal with it. Happy International Womens Day!
