Readers SWB - from Brussels to Amelia island with love

Reader and Ferrari collectioner Robert Bodin sent us a picture of his Ferrari 250 Short Wheel Base Berlinetta - chassis number 2291GT for the Ferraristi among you - that was shown at the Amelia Island concours last weekend. Do we like it? Oh yes, we do. A quick Google search reveals this car was originally sold through the famous Garage Francorchamps in Belgium and probably shown at the 1961 Brussels motor show, too.

Despite the fact that under its Ecurie banner, the Garage Francorchamps made quite a name in racing circles, this particular car doesn't seem to have been raced much originally. First owner Leon Dernier entered it at the 1000kms of Paris in '61 but did not start. It would be nice to know what went wrong? The car made it to the US later in the 1960s and has been owned by Bodin since '83. He entered and raced it in a reat number of (historic) events since and even took it back to Brussels when there was a Ferrari concours event in '96. Well done!
