Full fur Friday

Whether you like it or not – here we present you with four Friday ladies in full fur. Hey, it is getting colder, isn't it? But what was the occasion for this particular photo of which we know nothing more? A fashion show or fashion shoot? Or did the foursome have a lavish night out with their finned Cadillac (model and year – anyone?). Perhaps not.

Interestingly, we were just able to make out some of the words engraved in the marble stone in the background. ‘The City of Detroit’ is on the top line. Left from the lady in black fur (formerly a panther?) we can read out ‘Giffels and Rosse’ and ‘architects and engine’. A Google search turns out there was an architects and engineers company named Giffels and Rosetti that was active in the Detroit area. In fact, Louis Rossetti of that firm turns out to have had a hand in the Detroit Cobo Center. And that happens to be the place where the Detroit Motor show takes place since human memory. Are you able to fill in more for us..?

1961: the year of the deadly shark fins and shin-killer lower side protrusions. Those points were sharp!

The Caddy looks to be a 1961 convertible, perhaps a Series 62 or even an Eldorado Biarritz. I'm sure of the year but not too sure of the vintage of the ladies blocking the view.
