Gearbox with Overdrive mystery (update: Humber Hawk? not Armstrong Siddeley !)
Richard Mawer is sends a question regarding a gearbox in his posession. So far he cannot find anybody who can identify the make & model of car which employs this gearbox with overdrive.
"I think it is a Rootes Group product, post war (1950s ?) & probably for a Humber Hawk or maybe a Sunbeam Talbot. Or maybe even both ! But what years & models exactly ? Hope you can help !"
Well Richard, you came to the right spot. Our readers may be able to help. We are - almost - as curious as you are.

With the letter "U" cast into the gearbox it is definitely Humber; by the size of it I would suggest a Mk. IV Super Snipe. Is this gearbox for sale?
