Most certainly not, as the Pignatelli was the brainchild of illustrator Stan Mott. In 1958 he drew the car that he wanted to own, based on what he saw at the racing circuits. The magazine ‘Sports Car Illustrated’ published lots of his cartoons, like the ones shown here. Stan was a wonderful artist, who not only drew cars, but for instance also created the Supertanker chopper and other weird fantasies. Many pieces of Stan Mott’s original artwork can be seen at the next Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance that will be held on March 9-11, 2012.
Update/Correcetion by karl Ludvisen:
Credit for the Pignatelli should go to Robert Lurie, who wrote the stories about the 'Big Pig' that Stan illustrated. Both did a great job for me while I was editor in those days.
