This is truly amazing. Bonhams have managed to get hold of the personal collection of automobilia of the late Donald Healey. And they will sell all of it during the Goodwood Revival this weekend. This is a collection that will make the Healey-fan dribble all over the place. Think of it, and you’ll find it there. From factory records of the 100S, pictures from the personal scrapbooks, Gerry Coker’s first sketch of the 100 Coupe, certificates that Donald received for some of his land speed records, notebooks from the salt flat runs, notes made on prototypes, four of his driving licences, his goggles, his overalls to even a complete set of his personal diaries. And there is much more!
We bet the Healey Museum will be attending and are in fact slightly surprised that the whole collection has not yet been taken over by them in the first place. There will surely be more enthusiasts interested in a piece of Donald Healey history. Estimates are remarkably low, and we are sure most of the items will sell for quite a lot more then the auctioneer has indicated. Oh - if you really do not find something among the automobilia lots (...), you can always drive home the genuine ex-works ‘Big’ Healey 3000 Mk1 that Peter Riley and Tony Ambrose used in the 1961 Acropolis Rally. Happy bidding!
