Don't laugh about the Fiat 124 (not a Lada!) right of the '56 Bel Air 4 door Sedan. An identical Fiat - same type, same vagish sandy beige - was the very first car driven by your editor at the age of 14. This was near Brindisi, south Italy. We shot the two seemingly abandonned cars at the booming 'rive gauche' area of the Golden Horn, near the old center of Istanbul. Large fifties americans were most common here untill not too long ago. But nowadays you will hardly ever see any of those. Still many of these cars must be hiding in garages in and around town. Proof of that are several shops located near the ill famed Taksim square. Like this Chevy parts shop and Chrysler Dodge store. So if your Bela Air breaks down in Turkey, better let it happen here.
