Two versions of the Austin Mini were the ¼ ton Pick-up and the ¼ ton Van. They were introduced in the early 1960s as small, uncomplicated cars with a maximum load of 350 kilogrammes so you couldn’t expect them to be real trucks. Yet your editor owned a pick-up from late 1970s until the middle eighties and used it for all kinds of purposes. It was great for carrying the surfboard and surf gear, but it could also handle a bigger load. These two worn tractor tires had to be moved from a nearby farm to a children’s playground in the city. A job the Mini could handle without problems.
