Here we have another picture with no context or background information whatsoever, but if you know us you’ll know that we do like to try to make some sense of these things, even if we do sometimes have to rely on total guesswork. We believe the number plate of this Volkswagen to be Austrian while the car itself probably dates from the early 1950s. Are we right there?
It seems that it’s a well-travelled Beetle; how else can we explain the extra lights, horns and badges? It must have covered some miles and seen some interesting places. We can only identify the badges at the bottom as ADAC ones. Do you recognise any more of them? The large centrally-mounted aerial is interesting, too, and so is the pole on the right hand side of the car. Is it for a banner? What else could it be for?
Who’s the girl? We have no idea and she could be anyone from an ordinary tourist to a racing driver. Where was the picture taken? We've drawn another blank. The setting is rather stunning. Could it be the Rocky Mountains? Yosemite? The peaks of Arizona? Perhaps it's more likely to be somewhere closer to home for the Beetle. The Alps? The Dolomites? The Carpathians? Those stone markers may give someone a clue...
