A long lost pleasant time-pass.

It wasn’t too long ago when in Europe you had to stop at every border crossing. Show your papers. And maybe even had your car searched by over-efficient customs. This scene (click) dates from late fifties, early sixties when we didn’t know better. The passage is in Le Perthus, a small town in the Pyrenees on the border between France and Spain, that you can find on many postcards. The British owners of the pre-war MG (L-Type? - click here for larger version) are probably at the café changing their French Francs into Spanish Pesetas. Another chore we don’t need anymore.

(with thanks to Karel Vermeer for the postcard from his MG collection)
