We have a lovely tradition here in this part of the world and it is called Lammetjesdag or Little Lamb Day. It takes place at this time of year when it’s a nice and sunny day, and the sheep have just had their babies. Preferably in weekends, shepherds of local sheepfolds invite the public to come over and see for themselves what they do, as well as their little lambs. Donations are welcome. There’s no doubt this forms a great attraction for people of every age. Lammetjesdag also forms the unofficial prelude to Spring.
Even motor manufacturers know that baby lambs make the public go weak. It led the picture above to make it to a glossy Citroën brochure in the 1960s. That’s an Ami 6 Break – the estate version of the Ami saloon with the reverse rake rear window. We've always loved the off-white with a green haze. Oh, and the car is spacey enough for at least two sheep and three lambs, too. Plus today’s Friday Lady lest we forget about her. Here’s another view from the same setting. Happy Little Lamb Day!
