All too often we focus on fast and flashy sports cars and tend to forget the more mundane saloons. Yet many of them are as sporty as their two-seater counterparts. Take for instance this 1956 Sunbeam MK III Saloon. Don't be deceived by the everyday looking rear-end. Norwegian drivers Per Malling and Gunnar Fadum drove its predecessor, the Sunbeam Talbot 90 MKII to an outright win at the 1955 Monte Carlo Rally. The Mk III has the same independent front suspension, strong 2267cc four-cylinder engine and four-speed column-change gearbox. The only outward visual change were the three port-holes in the bonnet. These saloons can really be driven in anger! We found this good looking grey/blue example of the Mk III in the lot list of H&H's auction at The Pavilion Garden, next Wednesday, July 24th.
