The illustrious 2CV made by Citroën attracted not only serious buyers, but also many people tried to convert it to their own ideas. One such person was Robert Radar who in 1956 designed a fibreglass body and built a few prototypes in his Citroën Garage in Liège, Belgium. The Belgian importer of Citroën became enthusiastic about this model and decided to produce it as an official Citroën 2CV “Radar”. They had some fifty bodies made and when a client ordered a ‘Radar’, it was assembled in their Forest factory near Brussels. It wan’t a succes, though. From 1958 to 1959, only 25 Radars were sold after which production ceased and the remaining bodies destroyed. Today only five or six of them remain, one in the Netherlands and four or five in Belgium. The Dutch one is seen here while participating in the 2010 Via Flamina in Central Italy.
