Built by Austin in the U.K., but mostly sold in the U.S.A. where it was advertised as “milady’s perfect companion for shopping trips”. Called the Metropolitan, it was styled to look like a baby Nash. Considering its small Austin 1200 cc engine, it sold well, almost 97.000! The Met on this photo is probably one of the most original in existence. It comes from its 85-year old owner who lived on Cape Cod. The 1957 car has done less than 20,000 miles in its life and seems to be 100% original except for tires, brakes and battery. It still has the original paint, seats, chrome, the works! But, most important… it’s fun. You can find it at the Glenmoor Grand Salon Auction on September 17 in Canton, Ohio.
