Like many of us, Bill Briggs of Mt. Juliet, TN, was bitten early by the old car bug, and the $400 Model T he purchased while in high school was just the beginning. After more than a decade in television art direction with the The Nashville Network (where among many other projects he largely designed the revised Hee Haw set that debuted in 1992), Briggs struck out on his own, becoming well known in the Nashville area for large murals done for various movies (including an 84' x 10' mural for the Robert Redford film "The Last Castle"!), restaurants, banks, and individuals. Briggs is increasingly doing more transportation-themed work. A large canvas painted on spec for Corky Coker led to a series of commissions for Corky's private museum in Chattanooga and the new Coker Tire facility soon to open in the LA area. PWC was privileged to be invited to attend the delivery and hanging of the first two paintings a week ago. Briggs is accepting commissions for new work as soon as he completes the Coker series and can be reached via his website, Briggs Art Studio. While he's not really a starving artist any more, that 1909 Cadillac touring car he's been restoring for a several years still needs a few more parts...
