The Drone prepared for its second MM !

Showing here the start of the 1949 Mille Miglia. So far no other photos are known of the Duncan Drone in action, which comes as no surprise as it had an accident about 112 miles after the start in Brescia. The concept for the crude but very fast sportscar was to evade current tax regulations. Why the two-seater car still was named Drone is not clear to us, but it may refer to the in WWII developed unmanned aircraft by Radioplane Company. But here some curious coincidence comes in. At Radioplane Company a technician named Norma Jean was discovered as a potential model. Not much later became she became known as MM !

We understand that except for the Mille Miglia Drone there is only one other surviving Healey Duncan Drone, known as JPW227 which emerged not too long ago. Currently the car is undergoing a full restoration at Healey specialist Warren Kennedy and should be ready for a new attempt to glory early 2013.
