Stuart Penketh writes: "I’m a member of the Classic Car Club of Thailand ( update: not the earlier mentioned Bangkok Classic Car Club) You may not think that there would be a classic car scene out here, but there is. We drive on the left, vehicles have been imported to Thailand, since 1904, so don’t think it’s a modern thing.
So if a LHD car’s found here, it would probably be an American car brought over during the Vietnam war, when Thailand was an R&R base. More modern classics are being imported from Europe now though. Every month, they hold what is called a Sunday Morning Drive, which lasts just the morning, or as long as you are willing to stay, and meets at different places, of interest. There are a wide collection of cars here, and last month some 20 cars gathered at a new Shopping Mall (owned by one of the members) to celebrate its official opening.
The Chairman of the club brought his Bentley (the new one parked next to the 1954 Saloon). Which of the two do I prefer ? I’d take the 54 any day, or maybe one of the others, a Stingray nicely restored.
