Opening of the Vault or... The London Jungle

What can you expect from a plot with two garages that was never used or maintained over the past 25 years or so. The jungle had taken over. After using crowbars to take away the plywood fences shielding the small building from the outside world we entered a dense forest landscape. It took no less than 10 minutes to cover the 7 yards bringing one to the actual doors of the first garage. The 'Made in China' padlock was no issue as you can imagine. Yet it was another  half an hour or so before enough stubs and trunks had been cut allowing us to open the doors for a first peek inside. Blocked by a Daimler hood and a two piece bed spring we finally found a Morris Minor van in very sad condition. Left to that with the sight blocked by car debris and vegetation a car was hiding which at first glance looked like a coupe, than appeared to be a four door saloon. It is hard to imagine that one cannot recognise a simple car but the the lack of light and the inimaginable mess inside made it really hard. Yet finally we succeeded in ID-ing the car as a seventies Cortina GT with twin barrel carbie and four-in-two exhaust manifold. It was impossible to open the car due to a huge pile of woodlogs, good for a full winter of warmth.  Yet there was more. Deep down in the dim woods of the London jungle we saw an automotive glimpse of something  which looked like a 2CV front door which later appeared to be a full 2CV Charleston. It had to be excavated and cut out from brambles and woods. Never before we have seen such dense overgrowth deep, deep... in town! So yes, correct, no Cisitalias, no E-types, no Gullwings. But yes an 'uncut' urban adventure. At the time we had to race off to catch our boat the cars hadn't moved an inch. We keep you posted on future developments.
