The past christmas was discovered a very special car, believed to be lost for decades. The first time you see it you could think of a huge American convertible, or perhaps of a Graber bodied Alvis, but no it isn´t.
This large cabriolet is a non-sporting Bentley Mk VI - like pictured below - bodied by the spanish Pedro Serra coachworks. Serra is more known for his work on the Seat 1400 and Pegaso Z-102 chassis, resulting in stylish sporting roadsters. But this not well known "carrossier" worked from the 1950s to the 1980s with an incredible variety of chassis. From the small Renault 4/4 to the Aston-Martin DB2, passing by microcars or Rolls-royce limousines, and always with very good looking results, as you can see in this page.
The car was built based on a standard Bentley Mk VI Saloon. The original owner was an important man who belonged to the Spanish nobility, the Marquis of Caralt. Perhaps after an accident, the car was rebodied in the mid 50´s with this aggresive body. Is hard to believe that inside this body there is a MK VI chassis.
The Bentley Serra is now awaiting a total restoration, more news to be expected in the new classic car magazine of Spain Autodromo
