Maybe not the most exciting picture we have ever published, but this car is exceptional enough to deserve a place here. This fastback coupé was designed by Pietro Frua who used the Glas V8 as a basis. He first showed his project at the Frankfurt Autoshow in September 1967; two weeks later in Paris, in March 1968 it went to Geneva and finally in June 1969 the BMW 3000 V8 Coupé came to Spain for the Barcelona show. By that time Frua had not been able to convince BMW to take it into production, as they were already busy working on their own CS-coupé. So it was just this one car, which is too bad as it is a very good-looking automobile. Like we said, the picture isn't too good, but if you might want to see the Frua-BMW in the flesh, you'll get your chance at Techno Classica at Essen. You'll find it at the stand of Francisco Pueche, who will be in the same place as always, Hall 6, stand 312, just behind the piano.
