Remember this? A record player mounted under the dashboard. We knew they existed, but have never seen one in action. The one shown here is an American made Highway Hi-Fi 45 record player, but we know that also the Dutch company Philips introduced one in 1958, the Mignon MT30, which frankly speaking looks more attractive. These record players were crazy expensive, so they were quite rare then and even more rare today. The one shown above is attached to a 1956 DeSoto Fireflite Indy Pacesetter Convertible, that will be auctioned by RM on October 20 (see lot 201). Now just for the record. Did you have one of these in your car? And how well did it play at highway speeds?
