Porsche lady just leaves us with questions
Another intriguing photograph from the files of which we know very little. In fact we know nothing about this specific one, other than that’s a fine lady and an equally fine motor car.
It’s a Porsche 356 convertible, but we think this one could well be a pretty early car with the small round rear lights and split screen. But we’re also sure some of you will be able to tell more about that. And how about that number plate. Is that Austrian or German? We’ve seen these round plates before, but do not know anything about these either.
Leaves us with the lady. Is she a model? It seems that there is camera equipment in the corner ready to photograph or film her. For a brochure? A magazine? A movie..? And how about that impressive facade in the backdrop..?

UPDATE: the lady is believed to be Sonja Henie, a world champion Ice dancer and actress from Norway. The car supposedly is a 1953 model (not a split screen), and survives to this day. More (in Norwegian) here. Thank you Inge Olav Vikestad!

The lady in front of the car is Sonja Henie, famous norwegian world champion Ice dancer and actress. The car is registerd as a 1953 Porche 356 pre-A. The car was given to her by an admirer to use, but not registerd to her name. The car is still in daily use in Norway, and is NOT for sale.

The Knickscheibe (bent screen) was manufactured from 1953-1955.

Because of the house, I'm going to guess and say that the photo was taken in the southern United States, probably Florida.

The car is a late 1952 up to early 1955 Porsche 356 "Pre A", bent windscreen, not split. What you see is a steel rod that goes from the dash to the top of the windscreen frame, where the hook that hold the top attaches to, it also holds the mirror, only on the cabriolet, the coupe did not have it.

The oval licence plate is a German export plate ("Ausfuhrkennzeichen"). The oval version was used until 1988 and was valid for three months, after which the car must have left Germany. During these three months the car was exempt from German taxes but not from mandatory third party liability insurance. Thes plates were replaced in 1988 with rectangular plates with a red square on the left where the end datof its validity is stamped.
