Queen of Cool

Is there anyone out there who can bring a halt to the worshipping of the late Steve McQueen to market jackets, bags, and handkerchiefs with too many stripes and badges? I mean, it takes more than Gulf coloured embroidery and an oversized watch to become a king of cool, doesn’t it? Besides, question remains if the dyslexic, partially deaf, and regularly drunk mister McQueen was the brilliant racing driver that so many people believe him to be. Did I yet mention drugs, deceit, and violence? Okay: there are plenty of cool pictures with McQueen in and on cars, bikes, and planes from the golden years, which do help. But then, there are so many more. How about the one above? A sunny runway, a brand new fighter plane (a B-52, or so it seems) and a sports car. It looks like a 356A - is that a Reutter badge on the front wing? Oh! And then there is this unknown girl, smiling lovingly rather than the actor posing fashionably. More please! (Jeroen Booij)
